Abstract
Automated testing becomes increasingly difficult as more emphasis is laid on the coverage of the application. Better coverage yields a better quality for the product. The paper will illustrate the successful integration of test solutions using The Testing and Test Control Notation version 3 (TTCN-3) in Automotive projects. The paper will cover details about the interface implementation and examples. How to for testing features like Navigation, Speech, Audio will also be covered in a technical manner.
Our initiative consists in testing different application layers in projects and adapting our test system to the different protocols and technologies used within the layers. Using TTCN-3 with any System assumes solving the communication problem between them.
One of the approaches was to build additional applications included in the System Under Test (SUT) in order to integrate the product with the TTCN-3 environment. It was a must to have a general communication system in order to cover all the multimedia area, not following the particularities of the systems under test. Mixing different layers testing became a challenge and with a smart System architecture, communication with the predefined parts integrated in the product becomes possible. Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) is a networking standard intended for interconnecting multimedia components in automotive industry. Another approach to ensure design for testability was to reuse MOST protocol application layer as our design for testability and offer in this way access to all product features. The presentation will describe the strategies we had in different projects to ensure the design for testability and to fully enable test automation.
